June, 2002. Since I got them from the same owner, I thought they'd get along. Wrong-o! I was informed on the day that they arrived that they fought like cats and...cats. I'm really a referee and not a pet owner. Neither cat is a lap-cat, but they have their own ways of showing affection. Missy sleeps on her own pillow next to my head and Misha sleeps at my feet, usually wedging himself between my legs so that I can't move. Notice how they place themselves as far away from each other as possible, yet are still on the same bed.
I love them to death and fear I am becoming a notorious cat-lady.
Missy is a a black and white shorthair female. She is 9 years old. She is affectionately known as "the Bitch," because even though she has no front claws (I didn't do it!), she is usually the instigator of the cat-brawls. She likes to ride on my left shoulder and interfere with my household activities. She always yells out a warning right before she jumps up on me, so that I turn towards her and see a flying cat coming straight for my face. Funny.Missy hates cat treats and wants whatever I'm eating.
Misha is a black longhair male. He is 2-ish and also known as "Mr Fluffy." I once thought he was a coward, until I realized that he always waits for me to leave the room before he attacks Missy. He has a full set of claws and took great pleasure in shredding my terrycloth bathrobe before I finally figured out what the funny noises coming from the closet were. After 4 months of living with me, he figured out that there were fish in the (huge) aquarium and is now obsessed with his "kitty tv." Missy couldn't care less.
Misha will do anything for a kitty treat.
